Celebrating Cayman culture and pirate folklore, the Pirates Week festivities will begin in Cayman Brac on 1 November with a bonfire and kick-off party, heritage displays, a costume parade and fireworks. Get ready for three glorious days of Cayman Brac culture, fantasy and fun!
The festivities move to Grand Cayman on 7 November for the most famous of events with five fun filled days of music, street dances, competitions, games, food festivals, a Pirate Pooch Parade, a children’s fun day, teen dances, two glittering parades, sporting events for all ages, treasure hunts, a pirate invasion and spectacular fireworks displays. It really is something not to miss!
On Saturday November 9, the pirates will "invade" the islands attacking from the sea at Hog Sty Bay in the George Town harbour. Tradition has the Governor 'captured' and the pirates run amok for the week, before being banished again for another year.
Thousands of people line the streets to watch the spectacle and its good-natured swashbuckling fun. It's the only event of its kind in the Caribbean and it caters to everyone in the family.
But the fun doesn't end there, with lots of excitement also happening in Little Cayman (15-17 November). There you will find a pirate’s welcome party, the annual parade where on this smallest of the three islands, if 50 people turn out, the whole village is out! End the weekend with a firework display and farewell BBQ.
This Pirates Week, there is something for everyone, don't miss it!
