Soak up some culture on your lunch break! Join the curators at the National Gallery for a free 30-minute lecture and tour of the Cross Currents exhibition, which will explore some of the overarching themes of the exhibition as well as select works.
Running until the 6th of June, Cross Currents is a showcase of the very latest developments in Cayman’s contemporary art scene. Much like the passage of water across the open seas, the face of contemporary art in Cayman is constantly shifting, reflecting the interweaving of tradition and contemporaneity that is a defining characteristic of these Islands in the 21st century.
Featuring the work of more than 40 Caymanians, each artist, in their own distinct way, represents a different approach to the question ‘what is contemporary Caymanian art?’ Though innovative use of new media and techniques, these artists offer us a window into contemporary art making in Cayman.
