The only head massage you'll ever need

Jann Schenk, Swiss Surf Team

We’ve all heard of an Indian head massage (if you haven’t, let this be your first foray into the realm of head massages and you’ll only ever want this for the rest of your life) but this is no ordinary head massage. This is the West Indian head massage. It’s a life-changer and the very reason self care is now a standing appointment in our calendar.

Brought to you by the shah of spa, Jill Palmer, owner and visionary of the No. 11 Spa experience, this indulgent spa treatment is a divine spin on the traditional head massage. Drawing on the powers of essential oils, locally sourced tinctures, and organic super-blends found only in the Cayman Islands (found only at No.11 Spa for that matter), this signature Caribbean head massage incorporates a range of Eastern massage techniques, including dien chen facial reflexology, to re-balance energy within the body and bring luminosity back to your hair and skin, and it comes with some astonishing health benefits too.

“Whereas the traditional Indian head massage is done in a seated position incorporating vigorous movements, ours reflects our Caribbean vibes and is performed laying down in a cozy bed using fluid massage techniques”, explains Jill.

“We focus on the head, face, neck, shoulders, and upper back and use a range of facial reflexology tools to relax the body and mind. As well as encouraging euphoric relaxation, these tools also enable us to brighten and tighten- they are excellent for stimulating blood flow, increasing collagen production and promoting lymph drainage.”

“While our hair mask works its magic, we use cold quartz crystals on the face and neck to calm, sooth, and aid in the relaxation process. By unblocking pathways of energy within the body and increasing the flow of chi, particularly along the face and scalp, they can help to enhance higher spiritual receptiveness. They’re also a super little helper for pushing goodness down in the tissues.”

The “goodness” used in this dreamy tropical treatment are force multipliers in their own right.

Jamaican Bay Rum leaf (pimenta racemosa) - applied as an intoxicating hair tonic - invigorates the senses with hints of clove and cinnamon and is especially stimulating for healthy hair growth.

Bergamot (citrus bergamia)- this cold-pressed essential oil is known to elevate mood and alleviate stress and anxiety. It promotes circulation and heavenly sleep.

Cayman coconut oil (cocos nucifera)- locally sourced, this special coconut oil wins at giving your hair bounce and luster and your skin that ultimate glow.

Sounding too good to be true, we decided to try this delicious addition to the No.11 Spa menu and here’s what found:
